National Technology Day (May11) marks the anniversary of Pokhran Nuclear Tests (Operation Shakti) of 1998 and also India’s development in field of science and technology.
India had successfully tested nuclear bombs in Pokhran on May 11, 1998.
First indigenous aircraft “Hansa-3” was test flown at Bangalore on May 11, 1998.
India performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day.
Every year this day is remembered for the significant role of Science in our daily lives and encourage students to opt science as an option for a career.
