According to Nepali calendar Loktantra Diwas is celebrated on Baisakh 11 every year whereas in English calendar it normally falls on April 23 or 24.

Why is Loktantra Diwas(Democracy Day) celebrated in Nepal?
Loktantra Diwas ((Democracy Day) is celebrated in Nepal on Baisakh 11 every year because this day commemorates the reinstatement of Nepal’s representative assembly in 2063 B.S (2006 A.D)after it was dismissed by the king in 2062 B.S (2005 A.D).
In Nepal there two democracy days are celebrated.
1. Prajatantra Diwas: On Falgun 7 Prajatantra Diwas is celebrated which commemorates the dethrone of Rana dynasty.
2. Loktantra Diwas: On Baisakh 11 Loktantra Diwas is celebrated which commemorates the reinstatement of Nepal’s representative assembly.
Both Prajatantra Diwas and Loktantra Diwas has great importance to the Nepalese people because both days shows the acceptation of freedom & peace in the country.
