Why is May 1 celebrated as Labour Day?
May 1 is celebrated as as International Labour Day and also as May Day. This day has a special mark for labourers therefore May 1 celebrates labourers and the working class.
Many countries celebrate May 1 as International Labour Day and gives public holiday on the respect of the labours.
In Nepal, Labour Day is referred as Antarrashtriya Majdur Diwas (अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय मजदुर दिवस ). Public holiday is given by Nepal Government on this day.
Significance of Labour Day:
Labour Day began in Chicago as a protest campaign to support eight-hour workday.

The achievements of the workers is celebrated on the Labour Day yearly. While the day has various stories for different countries, the main reason for Labour Day is unfair treatment of the labour class.
