When is Ghode Jatra 2076/2020?

Ghode Jatra is celebrated only in Kathmandu, Nepal. Ghode Jatra signifies Horse Parade which is organized in Tudikhel in Kathmandu every year.
On this day of Ghode Jatra, a public holiday is given in Kathmandu Valley. Ghode Jatra is celebrated on the new moon of Chaitra Sukla Pakshya in the Eastern Lunar calendar, which means it generally falls in March or April in the western calendar.
The festival is being observed annually as per mythology which relates the genesis of the festival after the death of a demon called Tundi.
Ghode Jatra means “Horse Parade” and on the day of Ghode Jatra Nepali Army organises the parade of Horses at Tundikhel in Kathmandu, whereas in Patan of Lalitpur, a lone horse run is organised to mark the festival.
